The Eating Disorders Program is a center in the area that provides psychotherapy for those suffering from an eating disorder.  Those who come to this center receive an initial evaluation, individual psychotherapy, nutritional counseling, medical management and medication, and family education.  This center does not believe that an eating disorder is an exclusive issue, but more of the tip of the iceberg for much deeper self esteem issues.  This center offers multiple support groups; one support group is held on the fourth Saturday of every month at Riverview Medical Center and encourages those with an eating disorder and family and friends to attend the support group sessions from 10:30 am to 12 pm.  While someone is going through therapy for an eating disorder, it is encouraged and very helpful for his/her family to be aware, encouraging, and supportive of the recovery process.  Eating Disorders can lead to death and severe health implications, so the faster a person gets help the better the recovery will be.  If a parent or even someone who thinks they may have an eating disorder goes on the website, they can take an Eating Disorder Test that can also help a sufferer realize the severity of his/her eating habits.  For more information please visit the website: http://www.monmouthpsych.com/Home_Page.html.
