Children Now is an online resource that educates parents on how to talk to their kids about certain topics that parents may feel uncomfortable discussing with their children, such as sex and relationships, drugs and alcohol, violence, what they see on TV, HIV, race, disasters, sickness and death, terrorism, and divorce. While this organization is based in California, and reviews many issues that Californian families face, the information it provides for parents is extremely helpful. Each of the above issues is addressed with tips on how to start a conversation with a child on these issues, prevent children from being uncomfortable going to a parent for help regarding issues similar to this, and help improve parent and children relationships. Parents do not normally realize a strained parent and child relationship until it is too late and the damaged relationship is already becoming a problem. Parents need to learn to be proactive in communicating with their children and this website offers support and educational information for parents to read and examine as they raise their children to become mature, happy, and healthy adults.
