Disability Rights of NJ

As a parent, finding out your child has a disability can be a very emotional experience.  Parents hope that their child will have the healthiest and easiest childhood, but that is not always the case.  When discovering a child has a disability, parents may feel lost on how to make their child's disability not control their futures.  The first step in keeping a child's disability from debilitating them is by making the parents as informed of their child's rights and resources available to them.  The Disability Rights of NJ website, http://www.drnj.org/atac/, can aid a parent in what rights their child is given in a school setting and in the community.  At the Richard West Assistive Technology Advocacy Center, Mike Marotta can aid a parent in how to advocate for their child's needs that meets all the legal standards in the state of NJ.
