When an eating disorder has become so debilitating that a person needs in-patient or hospitalization, Somerset Medical Center might be a good place to consider. Somerset Medical Center offers inpatient care to 14 patients at a time. Inpatient treatment offers psychological, medical, nursing, and nutritional care in a highly structured environment. Somerset also has partial hospitalization for patients who come 5 days a week for 5 hours of therapy a day, and intensive out patient care for patients who come 3 days a week for 3 hours of therapy a day. They also have educational sessions and support groups for friends and families to help them with the recovery process of their loved ones. Unfortunately, Somerset is only one of the two centers in NJ that offers intensive inpatient care for eating disorders so there may be a waiting list for this type of treatment.
